Saris Bike Beam Review

Saris Bike Beam

I've got a pretty large frame cruiser, but still within standard bike sizes, and the bar is just barely long enough to connect between the handlebar stem and the seat.If you try to pick the bar up in the middle (with the bike on it) the beam comes apart. It seems to be ok on the actual rack though, as there are two contact points towards the sides.I always keep a SUPER close eye on it though because I'm waay nervous that it's gonna separate and my bike will go tumbling down the road.I haven't used it very much because of it.If you've got a smaller frame bike you probably wouldn't have a problem at all.

Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DX Bicycle Trunk Bag with Rigid Molded Panels Review

Topeak MTX Trunk Bag DX Bicycle Trunk Bag with Rigid Molded Panels
Average Reviews:

To help visualize, the horizontal space of the main compartment of this trunk is big enough to tightly carry two plastic gallons of milk and there is a vertical separator panel with velcro ends to sort into 2 loads. The vertical space of the main compartment will allow the zipper to close with a milk container in the rear, but as the front slopes downward, there's not quite enough clearance in the front of the trunk for the top of the second milk container.

The side pocket space is pretty narrow due to the rigid molding which gives the bag a neat and trim appearance -- don't plan on putting anything much more than an inch wide if you want to be able to zipper close. Otherwise don't forget to bring a bungie cord or two (always a good idea) in which case the top of the pocket opens to about 5 inches before being held at that width by side expanders on the front and back. I would have rather had the rigid sides confined to the main compartment or had the side pockets otherwise engineered to zipper close around wider objects.

Plenty of places to strap the trunk down if you don't have a Topeak MTX bike rack, but it's pretty slick if you do have one. Just slide and go and use the included carrying strap if you want to use it as a small shopping carrier.

A bit pricey, but a nice product overall.

Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror Review

Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror
Average Reviews:

This mirror is fantastic.I bought it to replace a helmet mounted mirror when the stem broke on the helmet mount.I can't tell you how much better I like this bar-end mirror. It's much easier to find this mirror out of the corner of my eye, and it provides a very good view of what's behind me, both in the traffic lanes and directly behind me in the bike lane.

I did have to mutilate the grip on my handlebar to remove the plug and cut out and opening for the mirror, so just trying it out requires some commitment, but once it is mounted the installation looks clean.

I didn't have any significant trouble with the installation. The directions are a little bit unclear about what to do with piece that goes inside the bar (the directions say to "secure" it, but you need to leave it loose, securing only the nut, until it is inside the bar).If you look at the piece and think about how it's going to hold the mirror in place, it's pretty obvious what to do with it.

The mirror itself stays put very well on rides. It shakes a very little bit, but really onlylittle. The stability is surprisingly good for a piece for which it is so easy to adjust the angles.

All the parts can be replaced individually if broken for about $4 each plus shipping.

Dimension Mini Horn Review

Dimension Mini Horn

This bell-compass looks cool, but is internally mounted on a flimsy plastic cylinder which will break the moment you bump or drop your bike. I've owned two of these already, both of which broke in the course of regular use. Don't buy this unless you have a use for the compass when it eventually breaks, because it will.

TYR Multisport Women's Jungle Floral Splice 4 Inch Race Short Review

I ordered these shorts for my first triathlon without having tried them on. They fit pretty well and give good compression. The only thing I didn't like about the fit was that they were a little more "low rise" than I expected, and I had to find a longer tank top so that my tummy didn't pooch out! Having said that, they were very comfortable during the race. No chafing. They also felt good during the swim, and have the padding in the crotch that is supposed to absorb less water than traditional bike shorts, so that you can swim comfortably. I was very happy with them and will wear them again for my next event. Also, the price is right!
