Bowflex Series 3 Treadmill Review

(More customer reviews)I did a fair amount of looking before I bought this model and I am very happy with it.I became interested in Bowflex treadmills after Consumer Reports rated the Bowflex 7 series as one if its best folding models.Shopping on Amazon, I realized that Bowflex made 3 folding treadmills--the 3, the 5, and the 7 series.Online, these look very similar, with the 5 and 7 series having longer tracks and a bigger motors.Strangely, the best source of information on these was not the Bowflex website itself (it has *no* information on the 3 ,5 and 7 series treadmills--just those crazy tread climbers), but rather the specs from Amazon.

Consumer Reports indicated that the best way to buy a treadmill was to actually see how the machine felt. I agree. I managed to find a store that had a 7 series in stock.I was impressed.The 7 series was rock stable and has a very nice folding mechanism--it locks in the up position and drops down slowly when released (a great feature if you worry about your kids getting crushed by the track accidentally).Unfortunately, I could not find a dealer that carried the 3 series to try in person, but it seemed like it would be optimal and very cost effective.

I also tried several Nordic Track treadmills in person. These seemed to have very unappealing walking decks (sproingy!, in a bad way) and even on high hp power machines, the motor seemed to power the track very unevenly.

I decided to take a chance that the 3 series would be as sturdy as the 7 series I tried---I am very happy.Amazon shipped the thing super-saver in a relatively short period of time--very appealing! It was very straightforward to assemble once I got the thing in place--parts are labeled and the assembly pictures are really self explanatory.It is also a quiet machine and the deck is *very* sturdy even for a big guy like me (200+ lbs).One quibble--the grip heartrate monitor could work better--sometimes it does not give a reading after even 10 sec of holding.Also, be aware the deck will not lock in the up position unless you reset the incline to 0 degrees.The incline automatically resets to 0 every time the machine is powered on.

I use the machine primarily for walking, for this application it is great, the machine handles inclines and relatively fast walking speeds with no problem. I can't comment on how well this machine compares with others for running fast.For jogging it seems just fine.

A note on delivery and installation.This thing is *very* heavy (~275 lbs).The shipping company chosen by Amazon (Eagle) did a great job.I called them prior to delivery to schedule when they would drop it off--thats the good news.

The bad news, they would only bring it to the threshold (just inside the house).I asked if they would bring it upstairs for an extra fee and they said--"no way."Three calls to moving companies and an estimate of ~$250-300 to move it from my entry up a flight of stairs--this is not a two person job--the shipping box is enormous (80" x 35" x 16").I solved this problem by recruiting my father-in-law (also a big guy).We turned the box on its side, opened it, and moved the main piece (track and motor together) by itself. Make sure not to cut the restraining strap, this keeps the frame and the track held in place making moving *much* easier. Even then, the main piece weighs about 200 lbs and was serious work getting around corners.Very glad at that point that I bought the shorter (56") track!

Overall, a great mo-chine--equal to much more expensive models! Glad I managed to avoid a hernia during installation.

(More customer reviews)I agree that these are the best adjustable dumbbells on the market.However, I would add a few caveats.For starters, it is important to have the PowerBlocks on a level surface and make sure you insert the pin straight across rather than at an angle.If you don't, it is possible that a plate could fall and hit you even with the elastic backup mechanism.It is also very important to put the pin assembly together right side up.If you don't, the magnets that hold this assembly in place don't engage.

On exercises like OVERHEAD triceps extensions, the points above are particularly important.While I think this product is great, it does limit range of motion in some exercises such as upright rows.The dumbbell is rather long and this could be a problem depending upon your frame.However, I wouldn't worry about the square design.I find using these dumbbells to be quite comfortable and the padded grips certainly help.

While this product is quite expensive, it's also the best out there that I know of and I shopped around carefully.It also seems to be the safest and is certainly more convenient, takes up less room and even costs less than a set of full dumbbells that can cover the same weight ranges.

If money is an issue for you, you may want to consider getting the model of dumbbells one tier down from these that adjust in 5 lb. increments and then purchasing adjustable wrist weights in 0.5 increments.This will give you about the same effect for less cost.

It should NOT have been put together as a "buy together to save". Beings we live in AK and shipping was horrendous as it was- we chose to just "make do" rather than ship back/reorder.

CAP Barbell Adjustable Slant Board Review

Packaged arrived quickly.Unit appears well built except for end caps on leg bars.
They just do not seem to want to stay inserted into the ends of the leg bars.
I will have to use a glue to keep them seated.
Assembly was a snap. Found it easier just to look at the photograph and
work with that.All, not just these, instructions suck.
First time I tried to fit my feet under the lowest foot bar I had to work my
size 13 feet in the sides by pointing my toes down, wiggling my ankles back and
forth. When I tried to then lay down I found the stress on my back was huge.
I had to stretch, grab bench back board and ease myself down and this was at
the highest level. Forget the highest incline, I'd never make it in my
current shape. I found by putting my toes under the highest bar and
bending my knees such as using at bed frame or heavy chair, I could do
scrunches (Spelling) and modified full sit ups.Board is not long
enough at this position for flat leg sit ups.Using it this way I might
as well be laying on the carpet and use the bed frame. Heck of lot more
room to work out. As I progress and can actually manage a couple of dozen
true "hands behind the neck, bent knee sit ups" I expect using the
lower foot bars and having the unit on a steeper incline will become
easier and possible. Don't know what to tell anyone buying this particular unit.
I neither wish to tell you this make is great nor tell you not to
waste your time.I only wish to inform you of what I found and what
I expect I'll have to do to get a return out of my dollar.

Powertec Workbench Multi System WB-MS10 with FREE Shipping! Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this system from a big-box sporting goods store. The installation instructions stink. Some bags of bolts, nuts, etc. appear to be mislabeled, but in the instructions it says those numbers are to help THEM, not YOU, so you have to ignore the part numbers on the bags. Gee, thanks! The instructions manual's illustrations were typically very crowded and it was often very difficult to see everything you were supposed to do. No real written instructions, just illustrations. It took close to 6 hours to assemble it, but I bet the second time would be under 4 hours. The instructions, though lousy, were not a major source of dissatisfaction.

After getting it set up, my son's girlfriend tried out the ab crunch station. She probably had about 30 pounds on it and the weld on the pivot arm was breaking! My new gym ... broken almost immediately. I emailed tech support on a Sunday and they responded the next day. They wanted some additional information, which I supplied. About two weeks later, I received the replacement part. I had to do a good bit of disassembly to get the part replaced. Once installed, it felt very flimsy ... not nice and sturdy like the showroom model. A while later, I revisited the store. The showroom model pivot arm was MUCH better designed and MUCH beefier! No wonder!

I took photos and described the problem to Powertec in email. They ignored the email ... no response. I've sent several more ... same result. I guess I'm stuck with a crappy system. I returned it to the Big-Box store on the 89th day (90 day return policy). One other difference between the showroom model and my model: there is an eyelet on each end of a horizontal bar used to attach the chain for triceps pulldowns on the showroom model, making access very easy. My model has one eyelet right in the middle of the bar, forcing me to stretch out over the ab crunch seat ... not a comfortable situation.

This COULD be a nice gym. It probably WAS nice before Powertec cheapened the design. The part that really burns me up is the (lack of) tech support. Ignore customer complaints, PAY THE PRICE! ZERO STARS! CAVEAT EMPTOR!

It has sodium 420mg,
potassium 70mg,
calcium 33mg,
magnesium 18mg,
manganese 1.4mg,
chloride 68mg,
and all are necessary for electrolyte supply and replacement.
It also has vitamin C 86mg.

I don't like sweet things (it's 10 cal/24 oz and this doesn't "taste" sweet) and I get my carbs elsewhere, so this is great me for pre-exercise and during exercise. The taste is surprisingly great. Even other family members like this.

I also like the convenience of a tablet because I can simply drop it in my water bottle and wait. No messy powders to measure and pour, no gels, just a tablet.

OK, Schwinn 240 is SUPER quite, while Kinetic Pro gives you SUPER realistic ride.

Both machines are fantastic.I ended up putting Kinetic Pro in the basement where I can ride fast and loud (without warring too much about noise), while Schwinn 240 went into my living room in front of my TV...When my friends are coming over they always want to ride my Schwinn...I used to watch news sitting in the sofa - those days are gone.I am riding my recumbent bike instead.

OK, now, about Kinetic.This thing was designed for a serious workout.You just CAN NOT resist a temptation to accelerate at some point switching to the higher gear and getting the heart pumping your blood "nicely".I bought a special tire (Ultra Sport Hometrainer by Continental - orange color) recommended by a salesman in the local bike store.He was right: now the ride became VERY quite and the tire is not getting hot.NOTE: I had to adjust the tire on the wheel in the bike store (I did not have a special tool to do it by myself).The tire for some reasons was not evenly placed around the wheel: one side was slightly higher then another.Because of that my trainer vibrated like there was an earth quake. The adjustment took less then 5 min.My advise to you is (if you buy this tire in the bike store) bring your rear wheel and ask them to put in on right in the store.

... this Kinetic Pro Trainer is a really good investment - it's so true...

(More customer reviews)I'm like many who watched the infomercial and wondered if this workout routine was a bunch of BS.I'm almost 50 and have always struggle with my weight.I purchased my set of DVDs at the end of April and recently completed my 32nd workout session.I workout with these DVDs every other day and have never felt better.Tomorrow, I'll be doing "Week 4" from the Resistance DVD.I usually do a specific routine at least three time before moving onto the next routine.I do switch frequently between DVDs (Cardio, Core, Resistance, as well as the DVDs from the Ultimate Body Collection).Just do whatever works best for you.All I can say is that if you're willing to give it an honest try, and stick with it, you will not be disappointed.I remember my first session.I was extremely out of breath.I kept thinking I'm probably too old to do these exercises.I was having difficulty doing some of the exercises and keeping up.I've since moved from the 5lb kettlebell to the 10lb four weeks ago.Definitely recommend starting with the 5lb until you get used to the exercises.Now I look forward to each exercise session.Each routine last 26+ minutes.There is a 3 minute warm up; 20+ with actual exercises; and then 3 minute cool down.Three times a week and you'll see results and feel better in a month - guaranteed!What compelled me to make the purchase was the idea of getting a good workout in 20 minutes.More information is found on the KettleWorx website [...].I recommend checking out the KettleNews section of the website.Specifically, the KettleWorx KettleBell Program on WAGA Atlanta (April 6th, 2009).Here Ryan explains hybrid movements and after burn effect.Good luck to all of you!
