Kettler Edition Power Stepper Review

Kettler Edition Power Stepper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is only preliminary as I have just received the stepper today and I wanted to give others interested in this stepper a little heads up in what to expect.

I was looking for good mechanical stepper that was cut above cheaper version ($50-$100) but not quite industrial gym class.KETTLER stepper is German product and it is very sturdily built.Amazon had the unit delivered via specialized delivery company (CEVA) instead of normal USPS, UPS or Fed Ex. due to its heavy weight.

If you are not mechanically inclined I recommend having experienced handyman person to help you along. The instruction manual is one of the worse I have ever come across. No detailed step-by-step instruction in English. You rely on overly simplistic pictures to muddle your way through assembly. What English there was no more than operational warning. If you're doing your own assembly study the instruction VERY CLOSELY, otherwise you will have big headache building this exerciser.

The training computer that came with this stepper was different than the one pictured in Amazon.I don't know if the version I received was older or newer model.Amazon claim the computer is easy to operate but here again the included instruction was confusing so I haven't programmed yet.

That said, once the stepper was assembled I tried it and I have to say I am pleased.Even in its lowest setting I can feel my leg muscle getting a good workout.I plan to use the equipment every day so if there is any change for the worse I will update this review. The machine come with three year parts and lifetime frame warranty so I take comfort in that.

UPDATE:

If you order and receive stepper with computer console design that is different than one pictured in Amazon be careful if you want to exchange it.

At least in my case I sent Amazon e-mail asking if it was possible to exchange computer console for the one pictured in the website.I honestly thought I will receive reply either exchange is not possible or it has to be complete stepper exchange and whether I would like to do that.

Turns out Amazon procedure is automatic shipment of replacement stepper instead of asking the customer if they want that.Since I had already assembled my stepper I wasn't interested in exchange of another so I called customer service to try to cancel that replacement shipment and found I can't cancel.I had to wait and call back customer service again at a later time and speak with higher up who finally solved the headache I was having.

UPDATE 4/3/10:

This stepper has 12-level adjustable resistance.I am of opinion that the adjustable setting is not that precise. After I got comfortable at level 1 setting, I have tried changing the setting from level 1 to level 2 and then level 3.Initially I noted some change in resistance but as I continued stepping I thought the resistance ease.Because this stepper use hydraulic resistance, temperature change may affect the stepping resistance.

Currently, I am using this stepper one 30 minute session five days out of week.I hope to increasethe time to 60 minutes per session down the road.

LifeSpan Fitness TR 3000-HRC Treadmill Review

LifeSpan Fitness TR 3000-HRC Treadmill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Great price with free delivery from Amazon. Shipping was fast from company called CEVA. Assembly was easy and we had no issues. It is almost fully assembled in the box and the tools are also provided which was nice. Within 45 minutes we were trying it out. The treadmill can be folded while in the box which allows you to break the end of the box and wheel the treadmill out of the box and into its location instead of having to lift it up and out as I first thought that I may have to do. Treadmill has excellent reviews on-line. My wife wanted an iPod connection but told her that it was just something else that could go wrong...the treadmill is in front of a TV and she can wear her iPod if she wants to listen to music. We have only had it for a couple of months but so far so good."

About Treadmills
Walking is still considered one of the most beneficial cardiovascular exercises for people of all ages, body types, and fitness levels. As a fundamental form of aerobic training, walking has numerous physical benefits for the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, while also increasing muscle tone and burning fat calories. Treadmills provide a convenient way to regularly exercise in all weather conditions in the comfort and safety of your own home.
From beginners just starting an exercise regimen to advanced athletes looking to maintain their fitness level, anyone interested in getting and staying in shape can benefit greatly from regular use of a treadmill. Treadmills allow you to determine the pace, distance, and complexity of the workout based on your needs, all while watching television, talking on the telephone, or reading a magazine. Much easier on sensitive joints like the knees and hips, treadmill walking and running surfaces are typically long, padded platforms that allow ample room for a long stride and comfortable, low-impact walk or jog without the harsh contact of a concrete surface.
While many different types, styles, and price ranges of treadmills exist, many of them offer unique features like a fold-up design for easy storage, an electronic display monitor showing speed, distance, workout time, incline level, and burned calories, and EKG grip pulses to monitor the heart rate while exercising. Regardless of the simple to complex features you may choose, treadmills offer an array of aerobic exercise opportunities that will provide long-lasting beneficial cardiovascular results without a commute to the gym or a jog in the rain.

Stamina SpaceMate Folding Stepper Review

Stamina SpaceMate Folding Stepper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
every stair stepper you look for nowadays is really big and insanely expensive. I had one for years that folded up like this one, but one of the hydraulics was going out, so we figured we'd need to find a replacement. This does the job well for the price paid; it's nice to be able to stash this out of the way so you don't have exercise equipment dominating a room in your house.

Hers MS 68 Mini Stepper with Bands Review

Hers MS 68 Mini Stepper with Bands
Average Reviews:

I used this stepper almost daily for a month and was happy with the product until a couple of days ago when the cable broke with no warning.I was stepping at a fairly fast pace, and when the cable broke the machine came to a dead stop causing me to lose my balance and fall off, sustaining injuries. When I was deciding which stepper to purchase and had narrowed my choices down to two, I chose this one because there was a comment on the other about the cable breaking. There are no specifications in the product description about weight limit (but my weight shouldn't be a problem) or how vigorous a workout the machine will tolerate (isn't that the point of aerobic exercise?).I'm returning this stepper (a fairly painless process, thank you, Amazon) and will order a different one.

After successfully putting this product together (the instructions rely on blurry photos), I found that it was very uncomfortable to use. Recommend using the optional bar, but watch out for the angle of the feet and ankles: very acute and uncomfortable. Don't recommend; returned the next day.

Product Description:
Cycling improves your cardiovascular health, boosts the functioning of the heart and blood vessels, and decreases your risk of heart disease. Now you can enjoy all the benefits of cycling without spending a ton of money with the affordable InStride XL cycle from Stamina Products. Unlike most exercise bikes, the InStride XL cycle doesn't come with a seat. Instead, you sit in a standard dining room chair or lie on the floor, then insert your feet into the sturdy rubber straps. Once you're in, you can pedal in forward or reverse motion, with an adjustable tension knob that lets you vary your intensity and an electronic monitor that times your workouts. As an alternative, you can even rest the InStride XL on a table and pedal with your hands to experience a full-range upper body workout.
Improving your cardiovascular health isn't the only benefit of cycling, of course. It also increases HDL (good cholesterol), reduces the amount of triglycerides in the blood, and helps lower blood pressure. And thanks to the dual-use pedals, you can improve your muscle strength in your legs, arms, shoulders, and back, depending on the configuration you choose. Other cycling benefits include increased flexibility without stressing the joints, improved digestion, better lung function, and a higher metabolism.
The InStride XL cycle, which includes non-slip rubber feet, measures 19 by 12.25 by 15.25 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 9 pounds.

Stamina 55-1610 InMotion E1000 Elliptical Trainer Review

Stamina 55-1610 InMotion E1000 Elliptical Trainer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a fairly compact, noiseless and easy-to-assemble machine and it does its job.

The counter is placed out of the way, between your ankles, so you don't have to stare at it while exercising (unless you exercise while staring at your ankles) which to me is a plus. Also, the counter only accounts for the actual time you spend exercising, so if you go get a drink of water and return, it self-pauses, which is cool.

The machine does occasionally rock slightly from side-to-side during use which I'd imagine could cause injury. Also, the machine doesn't glide easily during strides as it does on a regular elliptical; it occasionally jolts. This can be jarring, especially if you're not used to the unusually short strides on this machine. I recommend using this while you have something to stabilize yourself if this happens (I use it in a doorway)

Not the best machine out there, but it's certainly affordable and easy to use, a great purchase for a small space or for someone who wants to be able to stow away exercise equipment easily.

Product Description:
Forget the gym. Now you can enjoy a full cardio workout in the comfort of your home or office with this compact elliptical trainer from Stamina Products. Unlike full-size ellipticals, this trainer doesn't have arms or a front console. Instead, the trainer is essentially foot pedals only, with a chassis that's small enough to store under a desk or in a closet. Despite the small size, the trainer still packs a workout wallop, letting you burn a similar number of calories as jogging but without the risk of injury to the back, knees, hips, or ankles. Just keep your feet moving on the pedals--which continually oscillate in a low-impact manner--and you're set. Other details include sturdy steel construction, non-slip pedals, and an electronic fitness monitor that tracks the number of strides per minute, total number of strides, exercise time, and calories burned.
About Elliptical Trainers
Elliptical trainers represent the next wave of advancement in low-impact cardiovascular exercise machines and continue to grow in popularity. By simulating motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling, and skiing, elliptical machines allow for a smooth and fluid motion while building strength in the arms and legs. Similar to the exercise position for treadmills, elliptical trainers are used by standing in an upright position while holding the handrails of the machine. With elliptical trainers, however, your feet remain in the foot pedals throughout the exercise regimen and circulate in a smooth and seamless motion, resulting in little to no impact on the knees, back, and hips.
Elliptical trainers are compatible for all ages and fitness levels and allow you to select the difficulty level through the incline and intensity settings. Additionally, elliptical trainers allow you to determine the complexity of your workout based on your needs, all while listening to music, watching television, or reading a magazine while exercising in the comfort and safety of your own home.
Although different types of elliptical trainers offer an assortment of features, many of them include an array of challenging programs, forward and reverse directional movement, EKG grip pulse handles, a lightweight portable design with easy fold-up capability, and a monitor displaying calories burned, distance, speed, time, and heart rate. Other types of exercise machines, namely treadmills and bikes, offer excellent cardiovascular exercise and muscular training for the legs in a forward-motion exercise. Elliptical trainers take this to the next level by offering an upper and lower body workout with dual motion, challenging and diverse programs, and a low-impact exercise machine that won't strain sensitive joints.
