(More customer reviews)I did a fair amount of looking before I bought this model and I am very happy with it.I became interested in Bowflex treadmills after Consumer Reports rated the Bowflex 7 series as one if its best folding models.Shopping on Amazon, I realized that Bowflex made 3 folding treadmills--the 3, the 5, and the 7 series.Online, these look very similar, with the 5 and 7 series having longer tracks and a bigger motors.Strangely, the best source of information on these was not the Bowflex website itself (it has *no* information on the 3 ,5 and 7 series treadmills--just those crazy tread climbers), but rather the specs from Amazon.

Consumer Reports indicated that the best way to buy a treadmill was to actually see how the machine felt. I agree. I managed to find a store that had a 7 series in stock.I was impressed.The 7 series was rock stable and has a very nice folding mechanism--it locks in the up position and drops down slowly when released (a great feature if you worry about your kids getting crushed by the track accidentally).Unfortunately, I could not find a dealer that carried the 3 series to try in person, but it seemed like it would be optimal and very cost effective.

I also tried several Nordic Track treadmills in person. These seemed to have very unappealing walking decks (sproingy!, in a bad way) and even on high hp power machines, the motor seemed to power the track very unevenly.

I decided to take a chance that the 3 series would be as sturdy as the 7 series I tried---I am very happy.Amazon shipped the thing super-saver in a relatively short period of time--very appealing! It was very straightforward to assemble once I got the thing in place--parts are labeled and the assembly pictures are really self explanatory.It is also a quiet machine and the deck is *very* sturdy even for a big guy like me (200+ lbs).One quibble--the grip heartrate monitor could work better--sometimes it does not give a reading after even 10 sec of holding.Also, be aware the deck will not lock in the up position unless you reset the incline to 0 degrees.The incline automatically resets to 0 every time the machine is powered on.

I use the machine primarily for walking, for this application it is great, the machine handles inclines and relatively fast walking speeds with no problem. I can't comment on how well this machine compares with others for running fast.For jogging it seems just fine.

A note on delivery and installation.This thing is *very* heavy (~275 lbs).The shipping company chosen by Amazon (Eagle) did a great job.I called them prior to delivery to schedule when they would drop it off--thats the good news.

The bad news, they would only bring it to the threshold (just inside the house).I asked if they would bring it upstairs for an extra fee and they said--"no way."Three calls to moving companies and an estimate of ~$250-300 to move it from my entry up a flight of stairs--this is not a two person job--the shipping box is enormous (80" x 35" x 16").I solved this problem by recruiting my father-in-law (also a big guy).We turned the box on its side, opened it, and moved the main piece (track and motor together) by itself. Make sure not to cut the restraining strap, this keeps the frame and the track held in place making moving *much* easier. Even then, the main piece weighs about 200 lbs and was serious work getting around corners.Very glad at that point that I bought the shorter (56") track!

Overall, a great mo-chine--equal to much more expensive models! Glad I managed to avoid a hernia during installation.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the PowerBlock dumbbells after returning the SelectTech dumbbells.The SelectTechs are cumbersome, the weight plates feel loose, and you have to dial two dials to select one weight.Furthermore, they are over $100 more expensive than the PowerBlocks.

On the plus side for the PowerBlocks:
1) They take up very little space for an adjustable dumbbell
2) They feel solid
3) While not cheap, they are much cheaper than the SelectTech dumbbells
4) You can do over the head tricep extensions using both weights or one using the handles on the bottom
5) Selecting the weights is a one step process for each weight
6) They are upgradable with a heavier handle option and a barbell option

On the minus side:
1) Alligning the pins to select the weight is a bit more difficult with the weights on the ground.The stand or a table top would alleviate this problem.

Overall, I'm pleased with the PowerBlocks and definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a quality, adjustable weight dumbbell.

That was a mistake! Cheap plastic pulleys and skinny steel bolts can't hold up to regular use and I'm sure Weider Knows it!
So I saw the Stamina Viper and now I knew what to look for.The Viper has heavy duty Pulleys,fat bolts and overall solid construction.For bench presses,it uses a leverage resistance,which doubles the weight on the stack(for the viper,you need"olympic"size weight plates).The unit has a relatively small footprint,but you need space all around to properly use it.Assembly is probably about six hours average, with basic tools. I'm looking forward to years of service from this sturdy machine

PowerBlock Elite 90 Adjustable 5 to 90-Pounds per Dumbbell Set Review

(More customer reviews)After years of collecting the old standard hex dumbells, and trying to maintain a home gym in the city in various apartments (usually in the common basement) I found the PowerBlock dumbells.For someone without a dedicated room (with lots of space) for their workout equipment, these are fantastic dumbells.They go up to 85 or 90lbs without the add-on kit, and they are super fast and easy to change the weight. They are pricey, but considering the amount of dumbells they replace, well worth it, for the right user.

After using the PowerBlock setup for a couple years I came across IronMaster, another brand with adjustable dumbells.They go to 75lbs without the add-on kit, and cost a little less than the PowerBlock dumbells.I have BOTH in my home gym now, and I will go over the pros and cons of each for those of you trying to decide on a set up like this.

PowerBlocks:

Pros: Well made, comfortable grip, fast and easy to change the weight in 10lb increments, nice stand included, made in USA, ability to go up to 85-90lbs as is, and 120lbs with add-on. Excellent for exercises where you change weight quickly or frequently. Square dumbells don't roll.

Cons: Funky design with 4 pillars around your hand/wrist. It works, but it makes me nervous at higher weights that if I were to drop them I could somehow catch my wrist in there and hurt myself.Difficult to quickly switch weights in increments smaller than 10lbs.This is a problem for many exercises.Although they are sturdy, and have never given out on me, they rattle and the plates move a little when you use them. Again, they seem sturdy but when doing shoulder or bench press it's a little disconcerting.You need to make sure the magnetic pins are fully inserted and in the right spot or disaster could ensue.The dumbells get long when using a lot of weight which can be somewhat awkward for certain exercises.

Overall:These dumbells are best for exercises where you change the weight frequently, or quickly, and work best for non-press exercises in my experience. The add-on kit is a nice option, but the dumbells are already pretty long at 85-90lbs, so it may be impractical for a lot of exercises.They were the first of their kind, they are still a serious contender in this ring.

IronMaster:

Pros: Well Made. More traditional looking & feeling dumbells.Up to 75lbs as is, and 125lbs with kit.Not as long as PowerBlocks, no awkward pillars to stick your hand in between.Nice stand included.Great bench and other accessories available (better than PowerBlock bench after using both). No rattling or moving of plates when in use.Sturdy and well balanced and made in USA. Excellent for press exercises. Just as quick to change the weight in 2.5lb or 5lb increments as it is by 10lbs or more.

Cons: Takes significantly longer to change the weight than PowerBlocks.For press exercises I find this to be less of an issue, but for curls and other quick change exercises it's a bit of a pain.No locking mechanism for the screw in pins.This has never been an issue, or caused a dumbell to fall apart during use, but there's no locking mechanism (or magnet such as PowerBlocks) just friction preventing the pin from unscrewing.I'm not too worried about it, but it has crossed my mind.

Overall: These dumbells are best for users who use higher weights for press exercises and want the traditional look and feel of a dumbell you might find in the gym.They don't rattle or move, and are very solid.They also go higher in weight than the PowerBlocks with the add-on kit, and cost less.Not as good for users using ligher weight and requiring quick changes.

Conclusion:For me, having both pairs is a pretty good set up, but If I were to choose just one, I would stick with the IronMaster.I like them for their sturdiness and lack of rattling especially when using heavy weight.In addition to the IronMaster, I would buy a cheaper set of adjustable dumbells with a lower maximum weight (50lbs maybe) that could be easily adjusted in 5lb (or smaller) increments to use for curls and kickbacks etc...and stick with the IronMaster for the heavier weights, where I really don't mind the extra minute of rest to change the weight! In fact, I think I will sell my PowerBlocks and get a set up like this, and have some money left over for Muscle Milk! :)

P.S. the IronMaster adjustable bench is the BEST I have used!

(More customer reviews)We have this treadmill at school for our PE students so I figured it would be a good choice for me. It is easy to use and is very sturdy when walking or jogging. Other treadmills I see seem really cheaply made compared to this one. It weighs 300 pounds and is a commercial treadmill so it may not have the personalized user settings others may have. I am walking about 2 miles a day right now about 5 days a week and the impact on my joints and feet is so much better than walking in the park. This is a very long treadmill so if you daydream and lag a bit, you won't fall off the back. It seems like the quality and the warranty make it a good buy and Amazon had the best price. I would definitely recommend this one.

Make sure you have a good 2-3 hours for assembly (no joke). The instructions are awful - I am not kidding. They are useless. If you are not good at putting things together, get a different bench. Also make sure you have tools (pliers/crescent wrench) or you are out of luck. I finally got it together and am pleased with it; it is very comfortable.

Considering the versatility of different exercises this machine can perform, it is quite compact. The unit is well-constructed and forgiving of abuse. With the adjustable press/row arms and three cable pulley attachments, there's not much that you can't do with this machine. The 150# weight stack is plenty for 95% of the users that will consider purchasing it. For reference, I can bench press about 300#, and I still found quite a challenge benching the entire stack on this machine. For the more elite lifters, consider getting the 200# upgrade. If that's still too light, you should be shopping for a power rack instead of a home gym.

Pros:
Three pulley attachment positions will let you do almost any (isolateral) cable exercise you'd do on a normal cable crossover machine.
Adjustable press/row arm and seat positions allow the full range of pressing from flat bench press to overhead shoulder press, as well as seated rows.
"Dumbbell grips" (for lack of a better term) allow for quasi-simulation of dumbbells for presses and flyes.
Quick spring-type (vice screw-type) seat/back pad adjustments make for a faster transition between exercises.

Cons:
"Dumbbell grips" are too long to use for rowing exercises, unless you sit farther back on the seat. (Solution: wrap the straps around the handles a few times to shorten them.)
Carabiners are too small for quick changes with the lat pulldown and EZ-curl bars. (Solution: purchase a larger one at the hardware store.)
Due to the compact size, the weight stack has only about 3 feet of travel before it hits the top of the stack, which impacts wide range-of-motion exercises (like cable pullovers). (Solution: adjust body position to reduce the distance the weight has to travel.)
Cable handles don't rotate very nicely. (Solution: go purchase a couple of D-rings and ropes if you prefer those.)
The seat can't be used as a bench for free-weight training. (Solution: if you also own free-weights, go get a real bench.)

Summary:
I normally recommend free-weights over machines, but since winning this unit on a game show, it's been my primary source of resistance training. I'm an intermediate-level lifter, and find that the convenience and speed of the M2 offer more benefits than hitting the gym. The exercise chart for this unit doesn't do justice to the variety of exercises you can perform, and you can do many more with a few additional purchases and some creativity.

Plan beforehand to have someone local to set it up for you if think this will beover your head. There are 200 pounds in weights and 300+ pounds in pieces to put together, I am lucky I had my 17 year old boy to help and it took us 3 days at night (mostly) to put it together. I'll do it again.

Endurance TF3i Folding Treadmill Review

I specifically bought a model from Fitness Factory because of the lifetime warranty on all parts. I already owned a Body Solid gym purchaced from Fitness Factory 10 years ago and they have always been great about replacing worn out or broken parts with absolutely no hassle.

The TF3i is a solidy built treadmill with great fit and finish. It's appearance is that of a much more expensive model. This is a model without all the bells and whistles. It has only 4 pre-programed programs and will not store custom programs. It also has a basic control panel without all the advanced graphics the more expensive models have but it is also 25% less in price. The folding feature is great because I have a relatively small room for a gym and it only takes 10 seconds to get it ready to run or fold back up for storage.

The TF3i is extremely smooth and quiet in operation. Set up was easy, taking only about half an hour and having only three components to bolt together and the tools were included. You can forget about following the instructions since they were written in China but thankfully on this one it's straight forward enough that there won't be any guessing and even a novice at assemling such things should have no trouble at all. One thing to remember is that it does weigh 200 lbs and it will take two strong people to carry it to wherever you are setting it up in your house. It's shipped by freight like most of these are which means you will be responsible for getting it from the back of the truck to wherever it's going in your house. In my case the driver offered to help even though I was not paying extra for it and he was not required to.

In short this is an excellent machine for someone who is serious about putting in a lot of miles, doesn't care about all the electronics extras and wanys a machine that will last for many years at a reasonable price.Endurance TF3i Folding Treadmill

(More customer reviews)Excellent product and service.Although this item arrived a bit later than expected due to shipping area/schedule, it did arrive in good condition.The first big excercise that I had with this machine involved moving it to my basement.Even after removing the covers and foot pedals, it was still a heavy task as the frame was built like a tank.After assembly, the unit was smooth.Even my sister commented that she liked this unit better than the one that she uses in the gym.The only issue that I had was that it was missing the heart rate chest monitor. I called Bodysolid about this.Not only did I quickly get someone on the phone, but they quickly shipped out the monitor which I received in about 3 days.As mentioned, overall great service and one well built machine.

(More customer reviews)I used this item for about a week when the chest strap quit transimitting. Not happy about that.
The watch was easy to setup and it immediately detected the chest strap. My data logger also detected the chest strap. As mentioned, the chest strap quick working after about a week. Changed the battery to no avail. Tested both batteries with a volt meter and they were up to snuff. Put one of the batteries into my old Oregon Scientific chest strap and the watch detected that signal, as did the data logger.
I also didn't like the latch for the chest strap. It kept coming undone. Seems to be poorly made when compared to my old unit.
2 stars because the watch works but no more than that because without the chest strap it isn't fully functional.
Maybe I got a bad one. Hope I can return it for a replacement, or better yet a credit.

the day i bought it on amazon there was only one review the good one
i checked my order status everyhour yes i was that excited ive never owned a home gym and ive always wanted one now 500 is pretty damn expensive and i dont have money to waste so i checked the product page and i was pretty upset reading the reviews

missing parts bad customer service a pretty bad experience it seems the other two guys had so i thought my gym was going to be a piece of garbage and i a was worried about having to go through the hassle of returning something so big and heavy would i have to pay to return it ? i didnt know
i also didnt want to deal with bad customer service so days went by and i was no longer excited as it was coming i thought it was going to suck for sure i mean i trust reviewers i buy alot of my products based on reviews and i end up pretty satisfiedok so heres the deal
shipping was not only great but fast i actually got a call 2 days before it was estimated to arrive to schedule a delivery to my apartment and when i got it damn well it was worth it

i assembled it in 45 minutes no missing parts everything in perfect order

this gym is sturdy as hell it is a rugged gym you wont likely be peeling the paint off it its very high quality i mean it looks like a lamborghiniassembly was easy enough you have no idea how relieved i was when i put this thing together

the weights are awesome sturdy and tough they are great i would easily pay 250 just for the weights alone the bench is great it does all its functions well its a pretty good leg machine im sure their are better but this does everything i get a serious ab workout on this the power assist system is very good i was hooked on this gym after my first workout i know im going to get major results with this its not huge but not small it fits fine in my room it will fit great in any apartmenti was eager to write this review because this machine deserves five stars

Having to put it together and the size and performance of the 7" tv screen.

The dread was unecessary.

Pro's: The unit came already assembled and arrived in a fold down position. The only thing I had to do was put in a few holding bolts and attach the unit that held the tv and controls for the machine. The entire unit was up and running in less than 20 minutes.

I hooked up my Direct TV to the unit and the sound and picture quality was excellent. I was very surprised.

The unit is very sturdy and well made

Very quiet operation

The options that are built in include different modes such as distance traveled, calories burned, laps, heart rate etc.

There are tons of pre-set exercise options that can be accessed by the touch of preprogrammed buttons.

You can adjust the speed and incline by very convenient buttons located on each handle

Nice magnetic security feature with a magnetized lock that you can click on to your shirt....if you fall the magnetized lock seperates from the machine and it stops immediately.
Cons:

This unit is VERY heavy...300 lbs. It did help that the unit has built in wheels...but it will take two people to move this unit to where you wish to store it.

The TV is great...but the control counsel it sits on is a prefabricated, molded plastic that cannot be adjusted once installed making the angle of the tv such that the screen appears dark if you are not walking near the front of the unit. So unless you are very tall...you need to move up a to the front of the tread mill belt, walking more closely to the front of the unit instead of the middle to see the screen clearly. The TV should have been on some sort of swivel or pivot. It's a bit annoying but not a deal breaker.

I was fortunate to have the proper cables to connect my Direct TV satelitte to the unit..the unit comes with no connecting cables for TV, VCR , DVD etc.

Overall...it's a great machine for the money. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the tv angle and the weight of the machine.

(More customer reviews)I received the 5.56 treadmill on 2/8/2010.I loved it until 3/18/2010 when sparks flew from under the deck. I immediately turned it off and unplugged it.I called Smooth Fitness immediately. They said USA Assembly would call me within 24-48 hours.They called the next day on 3/19/2010 to tell me that someone would call me with 24-48 hours.I never received that call or any other call from them regardless of any promises they make to call me back.It has now been 2 1/2 weeks and they are still searching for a service technician to work on it.

I am so disappointed.I am of average weight and used the treadmill for walking less than 30 times before it burned up -- not impressive! I purchased it based on the good reviews and the 2 year in-home warranty.The warranty doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't get someone to work on your machine.I couldn't in all fairness recommend this to anyone.

Also, be aware that if you live in a rural area the treadmill is "curbside" delivered by an 18-wheeler.The truck couldn't manage to get down our street.I was lucky that my husband was home and could use his trailer to meet the truck in a more accessible area.

I am 5'10" 170lb and my son is 6'2" 222lb and we both use it easily, so the smallness is an asset for our limited area but the size does not limit any exercises.We use dumbbells a lot and this bench is perfect for those exercises.Easily adjusts in seconds and is sturdily built.We already have a bench that is attached to our weight machine and I thought this new bench would get limited use but its portability/movability and its ease of adjustment have made it our main bench.We also put the back at a high angle and use it for dumbbell preacher curls.Extremely happy we got it!
